Tusquitte (originally Tusquitee) is an unincorporated community located in Clay County, North Carolina. Tusquitee is a Cherokee Indian word meaning “Where the water-dogs laughed”. A Water Dog, sometimes also called mud-puppy, is a type of Salamander.
